The Chisinau city futsal championship took place with the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Football Federation of Moldova, and the capital’s City Hall. A total of 32 teams participated in the tournament, both from the municipality and nearby communities.
According to the tournament regulations, which followed the model of the World Cup, all 32 participants were divided into 8 groups of 4 teams each. The teams that finished in the top two positions of their groups advanced to the knockout stage to fight for the main trophy.
Four teams reached the final day of competition. In the first semifinal, “SemSeo” defeated “Fulger” with a score of 6:2, while in the second semifinal “Gidigici” crushed “Stefan cel Mare” 8:1. In the bronze medal match, “Fulger” proved stronger than “Stefan cel Mare”, winning 7:3, while the tournament final featured “SemSeo” against “Gidigici”.
The villagers took the lead after a long-range strike from Graur, but they could not maintain their advantage and by the beginning of the second half were trailing 1-3. The players from Gidigici twice managed to cut the deficit to one goal (2:3 and 3:4), but that was as close as they got. The squad led by player-coach Adrian Sirbu, backed by faultless goalkeeper Alexandru Servan, held firm, while Sergiu Munteanu, who scored a hat-trick, sealed a convincing 6:3 victory.
At the award ceremony, players of the top three teams received medals and diplomas from the Ministry of Youth and Sports, while “SemSeo” captain Vadim Borodaca was presented with the trophy. The winning squad featured Moldovan futsal players such as Alexandru Timbaliist, Sergiu Munteanu, Viorel Gaibu, Constantin Burdujel (former “Tarsus” players), “Eldorado” standouts Oleg Gojan, Vadim Borodaca, Adrian Sirbu, as well as Valeriu Tetiu and Alexandru Servan.
