Platform Dublin

28.08.2025

Yandex has launched a new search platform – Dublin. Based on it, a new personalized search has been introduced, which takes into account users’ real-time queries.

Back in December, Yandex introduced the Kaliningrad algorithm, which considered users’ previous queries and used that data to shape search results. Before the launch of Dublin, Yandex updated user interest data once a day. This allowed the system to account for both long-term interests (for example, love for football) and short-term ones (for example, building materials during a renovation).

The new search platform also reacts to momentary interests that appear and fade throughout the day. Such queries are very common — more than half of all searches. To factor them into results, Yandex analyzes the current search session data — within just a few seconds they begin influencing the search output. For example, if a person has just searched for cinema-related information, then for the query [anna karenina], Yandex will primarily suggest the movie rather than the book.

The new version of personalized search is available to all users. Even if someone visits Yandex for the very first time and makes just a couple of queries, the search already starts considering their interests. To quickly respond to changes in user search behavior, Yandex built a real-time data processing system. It processes over 10 TB of data per day, constantly updating information about user needs.
