Last week, the SEOnews editorial team conducted a survey on “What tools do SEO specialists use?” and now we are systematically introducing you to its results.
Today we present the results of the “Tools for working with texts” block. During the survey, we offered our readers to choose from a ready-made list of services that they use when creating and checking content, or to indicate their own option.
According to the survey results, the top 3 services look like this:

Respondents also mentioned the following tools and services:
So, the obvious leaders are ETXT and Advego. This is confirmed by SEO industry experts:
Ivan Tyukhov, Head of the In-House Copywriting Department at Ingate Digital Agency
“ETXT Antiplagiat is a great program, Yulia Oydinskaya, our copywriter, has already written about it in detail in a separate article. The service is head and shoulders above its competitors, and we have used many of them – Advego, text.ru, AllSubmitter, and we have tried to create our own internal service. In the end, we still use ETXT Antiplagiat and others we recommend.”
Anna Starchikhina, Head of SEO Department at Matik
“In our work, we only use Advego Plagiatus. This is software for checking the uniqueness of texts. In principle, it is enough.”
Although the survey leaders received the overwhelming majority of votes, we still contacted representatives of SEO companies to find out what other tools they use for working with texts, and, possibly, to expand our list.

We use a lot of external services.
convertonlinefree.com. A damn convenient online converter for everything. I am especially pleased with the ability to quickly and in good quality convert .pdf to .doc or .docx. And it is extremely convenient to extract pictures from PDF with its help. The only downside I can note is the file size limitation – 50 MB. Although in practice, you rarely have to work with documents of this size.
gostedu.ru. Information about GOSTs, SNiPs and other SanPiNs is often needed, and not just their text is important, but also their relevance. The site is free, allows you to quickly find the document you need (by search string or by category) and, most valuable of all, immediately gives a list of amendments to it and highlights the current version in the search results. Of the disadvantages – when searching, you need to enter the name of the document with 100% accuracy, otherwise nothing will be found – the service is not trained to search for documents with similar names.
http://konorama.ru/igry/zapatan/. Guys, without further ado, borrowed content from a damn complete, but terribly inconvenient reference book on punctuation from the portal gramota.ru, which we idolize. As a result, all the clumsy commas are in their places, and an absolute minimum of time is needed to check them.
The rest of the services are internal to us, so we can’t provide links to them. 🙂
Roman Zubrekov, Trilan content manager
On desktops, we use Advego Plagiatus and ETXT Antiplagiat. There is no specific favorite — Plagiatus is good for quickly checking one document for duplicates, ETXT is for carefully rewriting the last percent of duplicates and checking a batch of texts.
Online we use antiplagiat.ru, copyscape.com, and miratools.ru. The first one allows you to check uniqueness on the fly when you don’t have time to launch desktop tools. Miratools is used in exactly the same way, and is distinguished by its high quality of text analysis, but has a limitation on the number of requests for free users. Copyscape is suitable for checking existing website pages for duplicates and is primarily necessary for SEO specialists. Finally, if launching Word is not convenient, advego.ru/text comes into play. It checks spelling and nausea of the text. Here you can also find out statistics on the words used.
Alexander Krantov, Head of SEO Department of TRINET.Group
To check the uniqueness, we use ETXT Antiplagiat — its advantage is in the comprehensive analysis of the site. There is both a batch check and a site check. A very cool function for comparing texts. For example, with its help you can compare what text the programmer placed and what text the optimizer sent him, without having to read. Changes are highlighted in yellow. Or often, when we send the text to the customer for approval, we end up getting back an already approved version, without edits. With this tool, you can analyze what exactly was changed.
«Orfogrammka» is a service for checking spelling errors.
istio.com is a service for analyzing texts for various technical parameters.
According to readability assessment — ru.readability.io.
glvrd.ru shows all the “garbage”, stop words, words-amplifiers, uninformative phrases and other discrepancies with the information style. The imperfection of the service is that it sometimes works incorrectly and highlights errors that are not errors in context. But this is easy to understand if you compare it with the examples that the service provides.
text.ru is a convenient online service, some optimizers trust it more than others. The downside is that sometimes there is a long queue of documents for verification, and then you have to wait a few minutes.
Advego Plagiatus determines the uniqueness of the text quite quickly, shows the addresses of sites that have the same text, but periodically “lags” and displays the wrong percentage of uniqueness, sometimes you have to turn to text.ru. I really like FindCopy from Miralinks – it determines both uniqueness and nausea, and the number of occurrences and does not glitch.
We use the isemantic.ru service, which we recently received for beta testing. With the help of the service, we can get the words of the semantic field, i.e. words that describe the term. This helps us to draw up an extended technical task for the copywriter, and the copywriter, in turn, helps to quickly understand the technical terms of the future text. The result is a text that is useful for a person, containing the necessary information, and not a list of key phrases used a certain number of times. Plus — with the help of the service we conduct various experiments and analyze other texts sitting at the top of the search engine, we analyze not only the text component, but also metadata, H1-H6 headings, synonymous and relevant highlighting from search engines.
More than 300 people took part in the survey.
You can read the results of the “Analytics Services” block in the final article. And we will tell you about what browser extensions SEO specialists use in the near future.
