Google to announce sanctions

28.08.2025

In Google Webmaster notifications, the URLs of site pages that have received manual penalties will now be indicated. According to Matt Cutts, this change is driven by Google’s desire to provide webmasters with as much useful information as possible to help them make the right decisions regarding their site.

However, Google does not plan to list every single page that violates search engine guidelines. Instead, several typical examples are selected that clearly demonstrate the current problems, and based on them the webmaster should draw conclusions about other pages. Without such limits, Google’s messages could weigh up to 50 MB, and spammers would easily exploit the data.

The new functionality is still in the rollout and testing phase, so page examples may not appear in messages right away.

In another video, Matt Cutts answered the question: “If an image on the site is taken from a stock photo bank, will this affect the site’s positions in search results?” According to the head of the Google WebSpam team, the search engine currently does not take into account the uniqueness/non-uniqueness factor of images on the site. However, this may change in the future.
