A few months ago, AdSense announced a new 300×600 ad format. The update received a lot of positive feedback from publishers, so Google AdSense decided not to stop there.
Now AdSense has introduced a new ad unit size of 970×90, recently adopted into the IAB standard for online banners (also known as the “super leaderboard”).
Publishers can now offer advertisers more space to promote their products/services on websites and engage with users. This large new format is designed for placement on widescreen displays.
Note: since the 970×90 unit is new to the AdSense network, at this stage you will mainly see text ads. The new super format can display up to 4 text ads simultaneously.
